Cruisers Yachts has our own in-house metal fabrication operation. We have expertise in cutting, bending, shaping & welding aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel.
Stainless Steel Bow Rails
Cruisers Yachts cuts, bends and welds all of our bow rails. Rail stock is all 316L stainless steel, with a high molybdenum content for added resistance to pitting and corrosion, and high nickel content for better surface protection. All rail stock is received in 'pre-buffed' condition to assure a smoother, sealed surface for longer service life. Rail feet are square, allowing 4 fastener mounting for maximum security. Rail systems are continuous-welded, meaning no faceted joints to compromise integrity. All welds are buffed and polished to minimize surface corrosion. All aft cabin and sedan models feature a welded intermediate rail.
Convenient Grab Rails
For an added measure of security, Cruisers Yachts provides numerous grab rails in convenient locations. These, too, are made in-house from the same 316L stainless steel as the bow rails and welded, buffed, polished and secured with the same level of care.
Aluminum Structural Supports
Cruisers Yachts fabricates of various aluminum structural supports from tube, square and flat stock, performing all cutting, bending, welding and finishing operations in-house.
Aluminum is preferred because of its rigidity and optimum strength-to-weight ratio.
Despite internal expertise, we also outsource several structural components such as arches and hardtop supports. These parts are finished to our specification through a meticulous, multi-step operation that includes prep, filler, primer & finish coats with color-matched iron paint.
All bilge and sump pumps are installed on custom fabricated aluminum flange mounts to provide a secure and readily serviceable base that is more stable and practical than trying to screw into fiberglass or laminated wood platforms as bases.
Aluminum Core Plates
All deck tackle and rail stanchion feet are mounted through aluminum core plates that are actually laminated into the deck. This ensures a stronger and more durable fixture mount by spreading torsional loads. It also stabilizes the mounting surface to preserve sealant bonds, minimizing potential for water intrusion. The use of aluminum plates as core provides better structural integrity than backing plates that are surface mounted, glued to the inner deck surface. In this application, Cruisers Yachts utilizes 6061 aluminum stock, a heat treated alloy with a high machine-ability rating, for good corrosion resistance and excellent strength.
Fuel tanks are designed in-house, specifically for each model. Such vertical integration allows for custom designs that maximize capacity and optimize location in each model yacht for easy inspection and convenient removal, if necessary. They are all fabricated in our metal shop from 5052 aircraft aluminum. Tanks are baffled, welded and pressure tested 3 times, using a chemical leak detector for added assurance. Sending units are pre-tested then manually installed and tested again. Tanks are also wrapped with 1' foam insulation to help control temperature and securely mounted on 3/8' thick inert rubber insulators to provide ventilation as well as puncture and spot wear protection.
The Metal Shop also cuts, sizes, shapes and pre-drills the countless flanges, backing plates, gussets and corings that are consumed in our assembly operation.
The structural support for all weather coverings is also fabricated, in-house, from 317L stainless steel.
All anchor rollers are fabricated in-house from the same 316L stainless steel.
